I was looking at the rules earlier and was wondering what does Trolling mean?

Hi Broomhilda!  mickeywave  "Trolling" or a "troll" is when someone tries to start a flame war with remarks or bullying over a topic, or even trying to steer the topic off on to something else. Wikipedia defines an internet troll as "a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement." I've seen plenty of them before on other forums and on Facebook, and they usually get called out and banned for stirring up dissension. You can read more about it [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Thanks Cinda. I didn't know that either. @ Broomhilda, I feel the same about FB. I was off for about 1 year, then got back on to see some pictures. Now get this, I tried to log onto my Sims account, said I had been Hacked so they locked up my account. Said that I needed to send a personal photo ID like from a DL or a Gov ID Card, a copy of my SS Card, copy of a Utility Bill and something else. Eh,, I am not gonna send that mess into FB. I didn't have to do it before, and I'm not doing it now. I don't care if I ever get to log back on, I'm not sending my personal stuff to them.

I answered all of my Security questions to change my password and they still wanted that other stuff. Oh well....

OHGosh..that is insane to do something like that..specially FB or MySpace..it seemed at least 2x a week I was doing a factory restore because of viruses..I am getting spam mail from FB and other sites that I had never been on from girls to other guys..I contacted Yahoo about it but it seemed to have gotten worse since then..and then several from FB..I went into FB and contacted them about what spam mail I was getting as well and told them in no uncertain terms was I ever going to get back on FB and to delete my account instead of just putting it on the back burner but they wouldn't do that..it's been about 2 yrs since then and 3 since I have stopped going on FB..I don't understand parents letting kids on there under the age of 18 myself..it is not safe..

Hi all !

Once I found a funny article explaining what trolling is exactly, as trolling when commenting on a blog entry, for example. There are many trolls also on yotube about videos posted. And yes the intention is really to make the author of a post uncomfortable.

About FB I had the exact same issue as BBDoll and left that social site for good. An it's right that today out there it's necessary to be careful when you get PMs with links you don't know, or even when you browse an FB page, looking for pics and so on. I don't know how many times I had computer issues (virus, Trojan horses) from the while I was at FB. I prefer to not waste my time on such a site which is full of people who lost good manners anyway anf you can't moderate for comments that you'd get.
